The SDI Underwater Photography Diver course develops the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and effectively capture underwater photographs.
Underwater photography combines diving skills with camera operation, composition, lighting, buoyancy control, and environmental awareness. Divers learn how to produce better images while maintaining safe diving practices and protecting the underwater environment.

- Level: Advanced Recreational Speciality
- Minimum prerequisites: Minimum age 10, SDI Open Water Scuba Diver (or equivalent)
- Ratio: Maximum of 8 students per instructor (small groups recommended for quality training)
- Configuration: Students use underwater camera system, camera housing, lighting systems where appropriate, standard open water scuba equipment, image-management accessories
- Depth / environment: Within recreational no-decompression limits, Open water training sites, Coastal dive sites, Inland dive sites, Recreational diving environments
