Master Scuba Diver is a development programme and recognition rating earned through diving experience, speciality certifications, and rescue diver training rather than a standalone training course.

Divers must complete:

  • 4 SDI, TDI, or ERDI speciality courses, or equivalent.

Only one speciality without dives may be credited toward the Master Scuba Diver rating. Nitrox counts as a diving speciality.  

Rescue training develops the awareness, judgement, and emergency management capability expected of experienced divers and forms a core component of the Master Scuba Diver pathway.

The rating recognises divers who have demonstrated substantial diving experience, continuing education, and rescue capability through structured training and logged diving activity.
