The PADI Multilevel Diver speciality course develops the planning procedures and operational awareness required to safely conduct multilevel recreational dives using computers and multilevel dive-planning methods.
This programme focuses on:
multilevel dive profiles,
gas-management awareness,
no-stop limit optimisation,
and controlled ascent planning.
Training emphasises:
conservative dive planning,
situational awareness,
computer-based dive management,
and efficient use of depth and time during recreational dives.
Minimum prerequisites: Minimum age 12, Certified as PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Ratio: Maximum of 8 students per instructor (small groups recommended for quality training)
Configuration: Standard recreational scuba equipment plus multilevel dive-planning systems, including dive computers, multilevel dive planners, timing devices, depth-monitoring instruments, and surface-signalling devices
Depth / environment: 30 metres / 100 feet, Open water recreational dive sites, Boat-diving environments, Multilevel reef and wall environments
Format: Knowledge development + multilevel-planning workshops + computer-management exercises + open water multilevel dives
Duration: Typically completed in 1 day

FAQ
Multilevel diving involves:
spending different amounts of time at different depths during a dive,
rather than:
remaining at a single constant depth throughout the dive profile.
Proper multilevel profiles may help divers:
maximise bottom time,
improve gas efficiency,
and manage no-stop limits more effectively.
Students improve:
dive planning,
gas awareness,
ascent discipline,
dive-computer management,
and underwater situational awareness.
Yes.
The programme develops:
foundational dive-planning awareness,
profile-management capability,
and operational discipline valuable for deeper and more advanced diving pathways.
Many divers continue into:
Deep Diver,
Enriched Air Diver,
Self-Reliant Diver,
technical diving,
or advanced expedition-style pathways.
